A nail career does not start with buying tools. It starts with understanding nail structure and hygiene. Choose a course with live-model practice and a real practical assessment, then build a portfolio and train your speed up to salon standard.

Start with structure, not colour

Most beginners want to paint something beautiful on day one. But work that lasts, and that doesn't damage the client's nail, starts from understanding how the nail plate, cuticle and matrix behave. Correct preparation is the reason one technician's work holds for three weeks and another's lifts on day five.

Hygiene is a professional issue, not a tidiness issue

Nail work involves close contact and the occasional small break in the skin. Knowing how to clean tools, which items are single-use, and how to manage your station is something regular clients always notice. It is a large part of why people come back.

How to choose a course

Ask three questions. How many live cases will I actually work on? Is there a practical assessment? Can I come back and ask questions after I finish? A course with clear answers to all three usually gets you to paid work faster.

Your portfolio matters more than you think

Shoot every case in the same light, at the same angle, from the same distance. A consistent set tells a client you control quality, rather than producing something good occasionally.
